The Anthenium

Usually, when I review a book or video, I read (or watch) it once, twice, sometimes thrice before I attempt to summarize the contents or share my impressions. Occasionally, I'll have taken notes, which I revisit while I write.

Alas, my tried and true technique cannot work in this case, for The Anthenium is a collection of poems and parables which were penned by Ernest L. Norman, co-Founder and Moderator of the Unarius Academy of Science.

Anthos, in Greek, means 'flower', and the experience of each reading from this tome is indeed analogous to taking a walk through vast royal gardens full of beautiful spiritual flowers.

During a more enlightened time, sages and philosophers from Greece, Egypt, and other Mediterranean lands, expressed their inmost thoughts through works such as this.

If one wishes to enjoy the beauty of The Anthenium's well-crafted (and often flowery) words, and bask in the Golden Light of the Ancients shining through, one's strolls must be leisurely... so, my approach must be different indeed.

I resolved to start and end each day by reading a complete entry from The Anthenium, then share my impression here. As there is no Table of Contents, and the entries are not numbered, I do not know how long this will take. But it doesn't really matter, for these strolls are meant to be savored!

An Angel's Way gives us a glimpse of a Celestial's perspective when touching the Earth, and our lives, through incarnation. Truth-Bow is both mythic and metaphorical, yet it activates ancient memories long forgotten. Vessel of Life speaks of the heroism of those who, at great personal cost, strive to free us from our prison. Voice of Wisdom shows us the folly of measuring our achievements against those of others, and taking pride in being deemed superior. Vilify Ye Not speaks of the danger of blocking the Light by establishing false gods. Treasures in Heaven warns of religious hypocricy and reassures us that everything has its season. Harvesting reveals the importance of caring for that which we've sown.

Suspended shares the lofty perspective of a celestial body in space. Smallness of Self addresses our compulsion to pit our individual selves against the whole of creation. Eternal Infinity speaks of that which perishes and that which persists, in the fullness of time. Immortal Creation reminds us that true Immortality can only be found in Spirit. Pearl of Great Price reveals that Peace of Mind is the greatest treasure.

Mock Not is about attaining balance, and our responsibility for all we chance to see. Ageless-Timeless takes the pulse of creation and reveals the beating heart of the creator(s). Wordless Words celebrates words in a phenomenally flowery way. Envy Not reminds us that we are as grains of sand, building blocks in the vastness of creation. Rhythm of Nature sings of the poetry of the natural world. Oneness of All informs us that we all spring from the same source. Bowstring follows the adventures of words born of thought. Image of God advises us to seek the voice of the divine in nature and within our deepest self. Flowers of Spirit enourages us to embace and cultivate our uniqueness. Newfound Spring realigns us with the procession of seasons in our incarnation. Seed reveals the divine generative creative power that fertilizes and animates all of creation. Song of Creation urges us to keep our gaze fixed on Heaven as we wander through the wildernesses of the phenomenal universe. Waters of Life reminds us of the vaster currents that animate our lives.
