Nick Redfern's new tome, 365 Days of UFOs: A Year of Alien Encounters is a bit different from other books on UFOs. The unusual format allows it to be experienced in new ways.

It is divided into twelve chapters, one for each month. Each chapter has 28-31 entries, one for each day of that particular month (sorry, no entry for for February 29th, which comes once every four years).

Each entry shares a UFO related incident that occurred on that day. The selections span the globe and have occurred over several decades. Some have never before been published. The date (including the year), a teaser-title and a general location prefaces each incident.

An aspect of the milti-faceted UFO enigma is revealed through each entry. There is no attempt made to explain or thematically connect the incidents. This is great as it allows them to speak for themselves and collectively demonstrate the complexity of the phenomenon. Cryptids, Contactees, Folklore, High Strangeness, Ancient Aliens... whatever your special interest, you can find it somewhere in this book.

365 Days of UFOs: A Year of Alien Encounters can definitely be enjoyed as a straight read. As with all of Nick Redfern's books it is well written, well constructed and very entertaining. You can also read an entry a day (except during leap years) to get your daily dose of Forteana. If you're like me, you will also seek out entries that may shed additional light on whatever aspect of the UFO enigma you are currently exploring.

Thank you Nick Redfern for another entertaining and thought provoking tome that offers a fresh perspective. I am looking forward to learning more about the Cosmic Calendar you alluded to!

Onwards!
