Weird Worship
Weird Worship is one of two programs contained in Volume 2 of the Weird US DVD collection. Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran, of Weird NJ fame, are your hosts.
The fact that there are Flying Saucer inspired belief systems is introduced during the episode and both Heaven's Gate and the Raelians are mentioned briefly, one supposes for shock value.
Immediately therafter, the two Marks travel to the the Unarius Academy of Science Center in San Diego, which is odd as the Unariuns consider themselves to be students of universal teachings, not followers of a dogmatic religion.
Nonetheless, Tracey and Kevin Kennedy are gracious and eloquent hosts. They treat both Marks (and by extension, us) to a tour to the Unarius facilities, an overview of their history, and insights on the Founders of Unarius, Ernest L. and Ruth Norman. We even get to ride in the famous UFO car, view a model of the Future City and visit the site where the Space Brothers will one day land.
Though the Marks start their odyssey with their tongues planted firmly in their cheeks (as they are wont to do), you can see their respect for the kind and gentle teachings of Unarius grow as their visit progresses.
Weird US
The Unarius segment is immediately followed by a very brief overview of the modern-day history of UFOs. The second episode on this DVD is titled Weirdly Departed.
