Mount Olympus Presents:

Mythic RPG Reviews II

Hesiod has returned, gifting us with a new chapter of Gilbert Gallo's epic Greek Mythology Role Playing Game Mythos.

Wine and Blood introduces Dionysus/Zagreus, a reluctant player in the Heavenly Contest. Dionysus inspires new types of human heroes and demigods. He also opens the door for his beloved Satyrs to shine.

Zagreus' Patronage confers many benefits and imposes several limitations, but that is true of all the Olympians who compete for Zeus' throne. His Mystery Cultists are the Corybantes, Maenads and those versed in the art of Mimesis.

Echoes of the Revel God's adventures in Boeotia in Central Greece and far-away India have survived the millennia and enough information (with maps) are provided in Wine and Blood to help you revisit, revise or recreate them. As Mythos also allows for time travel and alternate realities your Dionysian role-play options are endless.

Eight Exotic Creatures and Eight Human Tribes (all of them Exotic as well) will add some spice and variety to your Mythos campaign, especially while adventuring in India. Three Epic Tales follow to get you started.

Mythos offers a wonderful mythic playground which Wine and Blood effectively expands and enhances. I really like how Gilbert Gallo integrates real but very obscure folklore into his adventures. I also remain impressed with his use of the Heavenly Contest to provide cohesion and focus to the Greek Myths.

I am eagerly looking forward to the next chapter. See you then Hesiod!

Onwards!
