Wow, wow and then wow some more.
Kac Young, Ph.D.'s The Healing Art of Essential Oils is a well researched, well written, well constructed and highly practical book full of useful information. It is also fun to read and user friendly.
Before I even finished skimming through the thick tome to prepare for the adventure of reading it, I was already hooked. I had experimented with herbal teas (I'm Greek so I started life with a firm belief in the curative powers of chamomile and mountain sage, which are considered panaceas by my people). I've tried various diet and exercise systems and have taken lots of vitamins and minerals over the years. I've even started using crystals in hopes of augmenting my abilities, but I had never considered using Essential Oils... until now.
Essential Oils have been used by humanity for over five thousand years. Their applicability covers the full spectrum of mortal endeavor and helps us approach, and even connect with the divine.
The Healing Art of Essential Oils provides a comprehensive course in Aroma Therapy for beginners and serves as an awesome reference work for those already in the know. I am enjoying the process of learning about, selecting, diluting and combining Essential Oils to help me make some much needed changes and accomplish my goals.
I was so impressed with this book (and its author, who I recently interviewed on Voice of Olympus) that I decided to spend time studying and applying the wealth of information contained within.
My current focus is on creating a stronger, healthier and more muscular physical vehicle while strengthening my connection to my Highest Self. I now know that there are plenty of ways to accomplish this through the use of Essential Oils and in August 2017 I will begin experimenting with
them.
I will share my journey here and through our podcasts.
August 2017
I began with Cinnamon Bark (Cinammomum zeylanicum), an Essential Oil that is Solar and bestows numerous health benefits. Following Kac's advice I am thoroughly researching the pros and cons of utlizing this spice in its various forms. Currently I am inhaling the fragrance a few times a day and feel powerfully energized by the familiar scent. I have also been using it during my Solar meditations and Mythic Physique workouts.
September 2017
As I am already working with Sage, I decided to expand my ongoing experimentation to include the Essential Oil. Sage (Salvia officionalis), in this other tradition, is considered Solar and is imbued with Life Force. This month, in addition to learning about and experimenting with this new scent, I will be adding diffusion to my Aromatherapy repetoire.Onwards!
