Within moments, Hercules Jefferson Brown loses his mother and discovers that he is in truth a son of Zeus. 

While attempting to subdue his mother's slayer (his ex-step father) he accidentally kills the man. To redeem himself he must journey to the Underworld and rescue the soul he sent there.

He is also given Twelve Labors to complete, like his namesake of old, by Hera. The rewards will be the same as well: Redemption, Word-Fame and Immortality.

Alas, the series (comprised of issues #0 and #1) does not continue beyond the first Labor. Herc triumphs over the Nemean Lion in a dream-like combat and we are treated to a glimpse of the mythic forces behind the Hydra that oppose him. There is also a teaser about a God Drug coming soon.
