Mondo Balordo

Surprisingly well written and witty, Mondo Balordo is an 86 minute compilation of footage from around the globe that is shocking and outrageous - or was, to 1964 sensibilities. Narrated by Boris Karloff, this bizarro classic is still fun to watch, once, as a historical curiosity.

The Hercules segment, shown early on, is a gag rather than a peek into the fringes. While Atlas survives in map compilations and Ajax as a household cleaner, Hercules adventures on as a mythical hero. A swift montage of sword & sandal clips featuring Hercules wreaking mayhem is followed by a brief peek behind the scenes after a shoot, with (mere mortal) stagehands (sans muscles) leisurely carrying away the toppled columns and mountains of rubble left by our brawny hero.
